Just a reminder that we will have an assembly at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 29.  Parents are welcome to attend.  We will be having our Grade 5 ceremony.  This is the last day of school.  Students will be dismissed at 12:15 PM.

Spring Production

What a fun night of Disney music!  Thanks to Mr. Huang, all the students participated in the Spring Production that included songs and skits from a wide variety of Disney movies.  It also included an awesome sing-along with the whole audience!!  The teachers also surprised the students with their own special song. What a talented bunch of students and teachers!

Staff Appreciation Lunch
Thanks so much to the PAC and all the families who brought such delicious food for the staff. We enjoyed an amazing feast!  AND we had leftovers!!  Your kindness is truly appreciated. Thanks so very much!

 Retirement Announcements
It’s with mixed feelings that we announce the upcoming retirement of two of our much-loved primary teachers, Sandy Rutter and Laurie Lewis.  Mrs. Rutter has been teaching in the District for 43 years!  Mrs. Lewis has been teaching in the District for 37 years!  We can’t even imagine how many wee lives they have touched, taught, inspired and loved.  We will certainly miss them – but we wish them all the very best in their well-deserved retirement.

LSS Grad Walk
Once again we had the pleasure of welcoming some of the Langley Secondary School Graduates to our school for what has become an LSS Family of School annual tradition – the LSS Grad Walk.  Our students lined the halls cheering, clapping and giving high-fives and hugs to the Grads as they walked through our school.  The Kindergarten students, in their Simonds jerseys, gave each of the former Simonds students a rose – and then lined up outside to give the Grads a lovely send-off as they departed by school bus.  Please watch the video below of the LSS Grad Walk as they went to visit all their former elementary / middle schools.

Sports Day
What a day!  We had almost every type of weather; mist, rain, clouds, sun.  It certainly didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of our students!  We began the day with our Wheels Parade around the school and then headed out to the field for a circuit of stations.  Our Simonds and U-Connect students had so much fun competing and playing games.  The U-Connect high school students were fantastic!  They ran the stations and got the students cheering on their teams.  The day culminated with several Tug-Of-Wars and then delicious freezies!!  Thanks so much to the teachers for helping to organize the stations and to our PACs for organizing the concessions.  A BIG thank you to Ms. Statham for organizing the student helpers and to Mr. Moore for keeping us all organized with his skillful use of the megaphone.

Parent Portal – Report Cards
Just another reminder that this year we are piloting the Parent Portal on MYEDBC.  There are several benefits associated with being able to access this feature on MYEDBC for parents.  Once we are fully implemented, Parent Portal will give parents access to check attendance, student schedules and also download report cards.

On Thursday, June 29, we will be able to give parents access to student report cards online.  Parents will be getting an email from MYEDBC with instructions on how to set up their account.  Parents who do not have access to the internet, or are having difficulty getting access, will have the opportunity to pick up a paper copy of the report card at the office on June 29 between 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.

Parents will need to have an email account to be able to access the Parent Portal.
If you need assistance with your Parent Portal, please email MYEDBCSupport@sd35.bc.ca

Community Bulletin Board

The District promotes great community events via the Community Bulletin Board (rather than sending paper flyers home or to schools).  A link to the Community Bulletin Board can be found on our website (or any SD35 website) by clicking News & Events > Community Bulletin Board as in the image below.
